Proactive Environmental Products Int'l 60 AMP Mobile Battery Pack is a compact, durable and portable 12 volt DC system specifically designed for most of Proactive’s 12 volt DC pumps. This self-contained, rechargeable 12-volt system can very easily replace gas generators or your old automotive battery.
Safety And Peace Of Mind
The 60 AMP Mobile Battery Pack is great for groundwater and surface water sampling applications that require "no spark" at the power source. The 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack is as easy as 1..2..3... First, The field technician confirms that the "master power switch" is turned to the "off" position. Second, the field technician hooks up the Proactive 12 volt DC pump to the 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack; Positive connection first to the 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack and then negative connection from the pump to the negative terminal on the 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack. Thirdly, the field technician turns the "master power switch" to the "on" position, energizing the 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack. By following this exact sequence of events will "practically eliminate" a spark from the Proactive 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack.

Why Is The 60 AMP Mobile Battery Pack Better Than An Automotive Battery?
A car battery is measured in (CCA) or Cold Cranking Amps. The definition of the Cold Cranking Amperage (CCA) of an automotive battery is the amount of current a given battery can deliver for 30 seconds at zero (0) degrees Fahrenheit without dropping below a specified cutoff voltage (manufacturer-specific, but usually 10.5 volts). In short, an automotive battery will deliver a high current for a short period of time, like starting a vehicle, and it is not designed to deliver high amp output over a long period of time. Furthermore, an automotive battery is not engineered to be fully discharged. This discharging and then recharging an automotive battery only a few times will result in battery failure.
In short, an automotive battery could be used to power several of Proactive 12 volt DC pumps but, the run time using an automotive battery compared to the 60 Amp Mobile Battery Pack is actually a 50% difference in runtime factor. Some of Proactive's 12-volt pumps may require higher demand currents that will cause extra losses in the internal resistance of a standard automotive battery to go up. Therefore, more power is lost heating up the battery, for instance, resulting in a rapid battery discharge.

Let’s face it, gas generators produce noxious fumes harmful to the technician and our environment. And the gas fumes may also contaminate your groundwater samples depending on which way the wind is blowing. Gas is cumbersome and very dangerous to transport, not to mention, the inconvenience of transporting and filling the gas generator. Furthermore, you practically need to be a weightlifter to maneuver a gas generator out of your field sampling truck, which can lead to low back strain.
