Craig,
The Monsoons pumped -13°c brine from 16 meters depth for several days. The pumps (2) often were run at the same time as we were running ice meltwater through filtration systems in order to clean the ice hole before entering the lake. Despite not getting into the lake we were successful in sampling brine (through the use of the pumps) that had seeped into the ice hole. This brine has never been sampled and has been isolated from the atmosphere for thousands of years. We are currently writing papers on our findings. Thanks again for your assistance. We will be trying again and we look forward to using the pumps in the next attempt. Thanks!

RE: ABYSS PUMP APPLICATION
A release of brine water to the underlying groundwater occurred when the plastic liner of a
gas well drilling reserve pit was destroyed by a flood. The 20,000 ft2 reserve pit was
backfilled and a 4-inch monitoring well was installed near the center of former pit.
Groundwater was encountered at 39 feet below ground surface (bgs) and the based of the
aquifer was encountered at 75 feet bgs. Two separate screened intervals were installed in
the monitoring well so that the upper and lower portions of the aquifer could be tested
independently. The monitoring well was developed by pumping 765 gallons of water at a
rate of approximately 3 gpm using a submersible pump and a generator as no electricity is
available at the site.
On November 30, 2006 an Abyss pump was installed at 70 feet bgs (approximately 32 feet
below the groundwater surface) in order to recover salt-impacted groundwater from the base
of the aquifer. A small rubber disk was installed five feet above the pump to partially
isolate the target zone. The pump was connected to a series of marine batteries that were
being charged by an array of solar panels. This configuration was taken from another
project (as a unit) and is believed to supply much more energy than was actually required
for theAbyss pump which pulled only 2.1 amps at start-up. The discharge hose for the
pump was located at the top of a 500-bbl tank such that the total hydrostatic head was
approximately 60 feet. The recovered groundwater contains approximately 6,500 mg/L
chloride (approximately 10,000 mg/L total dissolved solids).
The initial Abyss pump operated continuously from November 30, 2006 to April 29, 2007
(3,600 hours) recovering approximately 162,000 gallons. It was replaced on May 1, 2007
with a new pump, which has operated continuously as of the date of this memo. Our
intentions are to replace the motor and seals of the original pump so it can be utilized when
the second pump fails. The Trident Environmental technician, as well as our client on this
project has been pleasantly surprised by the performance of this pump.
Sincerely,

Dear Craig,
This letter is to inform you of the positive experience I had using Proactive Environmental Products™ Mini-Monsoon® groundwater pump we recently purchased. Our client has a fuel terminal in Southern Minnesota that has groundwater impacts for at least 20 years. The geology at the site is fractured bedrocks, and we have a series of shallow bedrock monitoring and recovery wells that range in depth from approximately 70 to 90 feet below ground surface (bgs). Groundwater is encountered at approximately 50-60 feet bgs. The casing/borehole diameters of the wells range from 4 to 8 inches.
We have a large volume of water to remove from each well; therefore, we have attempted to find an efficient yet low maintenance of purging the wells. I believe that we have found the answer in the Mini-Monsoon®. The Mini-Monsoon® allows us to purge deep wells at a faster pace than hand bailing, without the worries of purging the wells dry, like we have had with other methods such as the Grundfos pump. The Mini-Monsoon® pumps at a rate that does not affect draw down in nearby wells, yet saves us time and our client money!
I believe you have a superior produce and we look forward to using the Mini-Monsoon® on a variety of projects!
Thank you,
P.C.

Dear Craig,
Recently my company purchased the Typhoon® and Low-Flow Sampling Controller. In addition, to common monitoring well sampling jobs, we perform semi-annual groundwater sampling at remote location in Texas. The job requires driving ATV's through the woods, swamp and anything else you can imagine. All the while carrying all of our equipment and capturing purged groundwater. The Typhoon® and Low Flow Control have allowed us to carry low-flow equipment that is more portable than traditional low-flow setups, and minimize the amount of purged water that we have to haul back and forth for disposal.
This system has made this semi-annual project operate more smoothly, quicker, and cost efficient for both our client and ourselves.
Thank You,

Dear Craig,
Our company has successfully used the Cyclone®, Mini-Typhoon® and Typhoon® pumps for various groundwater monitoring projects, including low-flow sampling with excellent results. By dedicating submersible pumps in each monitoring well, we have decreased the number of people needed to collect samples. We found the pumps are easy to install and to hook up to a vehicle or battery pack and controller. The Proactive™ Low-Flow Controller allows sampling at flow rates designated by the USEPA for low flow sampling. Low flow sampling is preferred by most regulatory agencies in order to obtain representative groundwater samples.
We highly recommend these pumps for groundwater monitoring. They are economical, save man hours and are easy to install and use.
Thank You,
P.K.
